Privacy Officer contact: [email protected] (PIPEDA Principle 1 accountable individual for OLN and all sites it operates, including this one).
Lake Country Septic Services ("we," "us," or "our") is a trade name operated by Ontario Lead Networks Inc., a corporation incorporated in Ontario, Canada (OCN 1001650999). We are committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of our users in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide through our website contact form at lakecountrysepticservices.ca. This includes:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Town or city (your location within our service area)
- Service type requested (e.g., pumping, inspection, repair)
- Message content (optional details you provide about your septic needs)
We do not collect sensitive personal information such as financial data, social insurance numbers, or health information.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information you submit for the following purposes:
- Referral to a contractor: Your information is forwarded to a licensed septic contractor in your area so they can contact you to discuss your needs and provide a quote.
- Service communication: We may contact you via email to confirm receipt of your request or follow up on your experience.
- Service improvement: We may use aggregated, non-identifying information to improve our website and referral process.
We do not use your personal information for marketing purposes, sell it to third-party advertisers, or share it with any party other than the one matched contractor to whom your request is referred.
How we make money. Lake Country Septic Services is operated by Ontario Lead Networks Inc. Inc. ("OLN"), a paid lead-referral business. When you submit a project request, your contact details are shared with one matched local septic contractor, and that contractor pays OLN a referral fee for the introduction. You are not charged for this service. See OLN's full Privacy Policy at ontarioleadnetworks.ca/privacy.html for your full rights under PIPEDA, including how to request access, correction, or deletion of your information.
3. Third-Party Services
Our contact form is processed through Formspree (formspree.io), a third-party form handling service. When you submit a form, your data passes through Formspree's servers before being forwarded to us. Formspree's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy, available at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
Our website may also use:
- Google Fonts: Fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which may collect limited technical data (IP address, browser type). Google's privacy policy applies.
4. Consent
By submitting our contact form, you provide your express consent for us to:
- Collect the personal information you provide
- Forward that information to a licensed septic contractor in your service area
- Contact you regarding your request
You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at the email address below. If you withdraw consent before your information has been forwarded to a contractor, we will delete your submission. If it has already been forwarded, we will notify you and the contractor of your withdrawal request.
5. Data Retention
Ontario Lead Networks (the operator of this site) follows PIPEDA Principle 5: we keep your information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, except where Canadian law requires longer retention.
Your personally identifying information (name, email, phone, project notes) is redacted no later than 90 days after we pass your lead to the matched contractor. As a safety net, the absolute maximum we keep that information is 6 months from the date you submitted your request, even if the lead is never matched.
Financial transaction records (lead ID, dates, fee amount, contractor ID — no personally identifying fields) are retained for six years from the end of the relevant tax year, as required of every Canadian business by the Canada Revenue Agency under the Income Tax Act. After that period they are also purged.
Redaction runs automatically on a daily scheduled job and every redaction is recorded in a tamper-evident audit log. Long-cycle services offered through sister sites (solar, batteries, etc.) have different retention windows; see OLN's canonical Privacy Policy at ontarioleadnetworks.ca/privacy.html#s8 for the full schedule.
Formspree may retain form submissions on their own servers per Formspree's privacy policy; OLN's retention schedule above applies independently of any third-party processor's policies.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Our website uses HTTPS encryption to secure data in transit. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete information
- Withdraw consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of your information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your privacy rights have been violated
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information below.
8. Cookies and Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymized data about how visitors interact with our website (e.g., pages visited, session duration). This data is collected via cookies and helps us improve the site. Google Analytics may process data on servers outside Canada. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
9. Children's Privacy
Our website and services are not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our form, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
